Research and Laboratory Division of Davao City Veterinarian’s Office Highlights CY 2022
February 6, 2023R&L Division conducted Geo-Tagging using Open Data Kit (ODK) with Global Positioning System (GPS) essentials orientation to all encoders of City Veterinarian’s Office Districts. The said activity was to orient the personnel on how to encode their data and by using GPS to tag their specific area. Davao City Animal Disease and Diagnostic Laboratory’s personnel performed a Rapid Immunochromatographic Test (RICT) to Bovine samples. Team Davao City Animal Disease and Diagnostic Laboratory (DCADDL) conducted blood and fecal sampling activities in Brgy. Colosas, Paquibato District. The area was monitored and surveyed for African Swine Flu (ASF). Japan & Philippines One Health Rabies Project (JAPOHR) conducted a Training and Workshop on the Straw Method Sampling Technique and Rapid Immunochromatographic Test (RICT) for the Rabies Diagnosis and Rabies Data Share System (RaDSS) last August 23, 2022. The said activity is an initiative of the UP Mindanao and is funded by Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Council for Health Research and Development. The project is a continuation of the CHED-funded STOP Rabies program (2018-2020) and PCHRD-Funded Rabcast (2021-2022) in collaboration with the Davao City Veterinarian’s Office (CVO) and Philippine Genome Center – Mindanao Satellite Facility. Fish and Fishery Products Inspection, Activities, and Accomplishments in the year 2022
January 27, 2023Fish and Fishery Products Inspection, activities, and accomplishments in the year 2022, inspected 10,904,531 kilos of Fish and Fishery Products, and a total of 10,904, 051 kilos passed the inspection. 15 monitoring activities on illegally caught fish and Off-Grade fish were conducted, 149 kilos of Off-Grade fish were condemned, and 375 kilos of illegally caught fish were confiscated. All illegally caught fish confiscated were donated to different charitable institutions managed by CSSDO/CSWDO of Davao City. For Red Tide Laboratory activity and as a part of the Red Tide monitoring, a total of 877 Laboratory tests (Mouse Bio-assay examination) were conducted on all “Tahong” or Green mussels that arrived at Davao City and all 877 Laboratory tests were negative to Paralytic Shellfish Poisoning and safe for human consumption.314,260 kilos of “Tahong” were inspected and a total of 314,230 kilos passed the inspection, 30.1 kilos of “Tahong” were condemned due to mishandling. Red Tide Laboratory activity and as a part of the Red Tide monitoring One fish bagsakan establishment, the Pag-Asa/Marfori Private Fish Market and 5 Public Markets (Bankerohan, Agdao, Toril, Mintal, Calinan) were monitored. Post Abattoir Monitoring
January 23, 2023Post Abattoir Monitoring conducted January 21 & 22, 2023 by the Enforcement Team of Meat, Livestock and Fish Inspection Division .A total of 219.95 kilos of pork meat and lechon were confiscated in Bankerohan Bridge and Brgy. Talomo ( 158.28 kilos) and 3 lechon houses in Chavez St. (61.67 kls) in violation of RA 10536 (Meat Inspection Code of the Philippines) and City Ordinance No. 0291-17 Series of 2017 The said confiscated meat were condemned and dispose at Toril Slaughterhouse, condemned pit blotter were also lodge in Sta. Ana, San Pedro and Talomo Police station. Establishment monitored 8 lechon houses and 30 meat stalls 24 IEC Materials were also distributed to meat vendors and lechoneros. October 11, 2022October 9, 2022 Confiscated a total of 59.03 kilos pork lechon in Torres St. (2 lechon houses) and Brgy. Mintal (1 lechon house) in violation of RA 9296 as amended, (Meat Inspection Code of the Philippines and City Ordinance 158-05, as amended). All confiscated lechon were condemned and dispose at Brgy. Malagos. Also issued final warnings to 5 individuals and monitored 14 lechon houses, 2 stockyards and 9 meat stalls, 78 IEC materials were also distributed.... Read more...
