The Post Abattoir Monitoring Team of the City Veterinarian’s Office conducts regular  monitoring and inspection activities in various related meat establishments of Davao City.  From March 10 – 14, 2022, 67 meat establishments were inspected and monitored.

Hot meats or meats displayed without a valid Meat Inspection Certificate were confiscated.  This violates the provisions of RA 9296, as amended by RA 10536 and City Ordinance 158-05, as amended by City Ordinance 0291-17, on illegal slaughtering.  The confiscation was in coordination with the Talomo Police Station, and at the same time blotter of the incident was also lodged thereat.

On March 4, 2022, as part of the continuing Information, Education & Communication (IEC) Campaign, the Meat, Livestock and Fish Inspection Division conducted a re-orientation seminar for butchers at Bankerohan Livestock and Multi-purpose Cooperative (BLMC) in Maa Slaughterhouse on Good Manufacturing Practices, Good Hygienic and Slaughtering Practices and other related provisions.  The said activity maintained the COVID 19 minimum health standard protocol.  The IEC benefited 45 butchers.

From January 1 to March 14, 2022,  more or less 174 kilos of meat were confiscated and violated RA 10536 and City Ordinance 0291-17.
