Livestock & Poultry Livelihood Services – Aims to increase animal population for food consumption and provide alternative livelihood for farmers.  Listed below are the services conducted by the office:

  1. Animal Dispersal Program (chicken, goat, hog, cattle, carabao & horse)
    • Upgrade the existing native breeds through infusion of quality breeders in the countryside
  1. Artificial Insemination (A.I.) Program  for hogs, cattle and carabao
    • Enhance productivity and efficiency (lower input/production ratio) of the livestock industry specially the backyard raisers.
    • Maintains three (3) Animal Production Centers. The two (2) centers, Matina Pangi APC, in Matina Pangi, Talomo District; and Malabog APC, in Malabog, Paquibato District are sources of fresh boar semen while the Malagos Animal Production Center, in Malagos, Baguio District houses the Davao City Artificial Insemination Center (DCIC) that produces extended processed boar semen that are distributed to Barangay-Based Artificial Insemination Technicians (BBAITs) who help conduct A.I. to swine in the barangay level.
    • Free A.I services for cattle and carabao.  Frozen semen for cattle and carabao are supplied free from the Department of Agriculture-Regional Field Unit XI (DA-RFU XI). The same is produced by the National Artificial Breeding Center (NABC)  stock farm located at Malaybalay, Bukidnon and Philippine Carabao Center (PCC) Semen Processing Laboratory in San Jose, Munoz, Neuva Ecija.
  1. Institutional Development Assistance to livestock & poultry cooperatives and associations
    • Empowers livestock and poultry organizations.
    • Synchronizes government and stakeholder’s effort to achieve optimum performance of the livestock and poultry industry, e.g. Federation of Livestock and Poultry Association, Raisers and Cooperatives (FOLPARC) of Davao City.
  1. Technical Assistance to Organic Livestock & Poultry Farmers through trainings & Seminars
  2. Organic livestock and poultry farming is a profitable alternative to conventional farming that promotes healthy and safe meat.
    • As a front liner in the promotion of Organic Agriculture for livestock, the office  educates and encourages farmers to become adaptors of the technology through  trainings and seminars.
