The Animal Husbandry, Disease Prevention & Control Division of the Office of the City Veterinarian continued to provide services in all barangays in Davao City through Veterinary Integrated Barangay Extension Services (VIBES).

VIBES is one of the methods of reaching farmers in remote places. This is a one-day event that provides a variety of services in one place and is a collaborative effort of the livestock inspectors to maximize the services provided to our farmers and to raise awareness about proper animal care and handling to increase productivity, farm outputs and prevent animal diseases of economic importance.

Vaccination against Hemorrhagic Septicemia in cattle, carabaos, and goats, rabies vaccination in dogs and cats; hog cholera in pigs, avian pest in poultry, artificial insemination in cows and carabaos, pregnancy diagnosis in female cows and carabaos, deworming, and vitamin supplementation, fecal sample, and blood collection are among the basic services provided by this program.
Artificial insemination (A.I.) for cattle and carabao is also used for breeding purposes in locations where bull and carabao are scarce. AI also tries to improve the genetics of local breeder stocks to improve meat and milk production.
