The new Davao City Pound facility, which is now located at Sitio Kugon, Brgy. Malagos, Baguio District, initially became operational last June 28, 2021.  All the impounded dogs from then on will be kept at the new site, for the same 3-day period.  The same penalty of Php 500.00 and Php. 50.00 additional per day as claiming fee will be charged before the animal is subject for euthanasia three (3) days after impounding.

Aside from the City Pound building, the new City Pound Compound also consists of Animal Crematorium and Animal Rehabilitation Facilities. The Animal Rehabilitation Facility will accommodate animals for rehabilitation for at least 7-14 days before it will be released for adoption in accordance to Davao City Adopt-A-Dog-and-Cat (DADC) Ordinance.  For now, the City Veterinarian’s Office is waiting for the delivery and installation of the crematorium machine and equipment, as well as, the proper turn-over of the facility to start its full operation hopefully before the year ends.

With the better facility, the head of the City Veterinarian’s Office, Dr. Cerelyn B. Pinili, encourages all pet owners to be responsible because an individual’s decision to own a pet corresponds with a life-long responsibility and commitment.  The problem we have with Rabies and stray animals will be solved if all pet-owners in Davao City embrace the practices of Responsible Pet Ownership (RPO).
