On July 5, 2019, the City Veterinarian’s Office dispersed 2 heads of goat provided by the Department of Agriculture, Regional Field Office XI under the Organic Agriculture Program. One head was dispersed to Judel Abe, Barangay Sibulan, Toril District as an intervention to a farmer who needs a breeder animal since Sibulan was declared as the first organic zone in Davao City.
The other one was dispersed to Irone Glenn Cabalida of Barangay Tacunan, Tugbok District whose farm is an organic livestock learning site. He also needed a breeder in his farm.
On July 24-26, 2019 an Organic Livestock & Poultry Production Training was conducted at Imulayan Training Resource Center to 14 farmers from the 2nd Congressional District. The participants are practicing organic livestock & poultry producers and became Participatory Guarantee System (PGS) certified.
On October 29, 2019, four (4) heads of organically raised swine from the Department of Agriculture under the Organic Agriculture Program were dispersed to Leopoldo Pama of Riverside, Calinan District whose farm is also an Organic Livestock Learning Site and May Lora of Barangay Tacunan, Tugbok District. Each received two (2) heads of swine.
On December 3, 2019, Mr. Manuel Mendoza, Dumoy, Talomo, hand over one (1) buck to Janel Juaton of Megkawayan, Calinan District. The said buck was from Malagos Animal Breeding Center and was previously dispersed to Mr. Mendoza. It had already produced an offspring under his care. Under the buck dispersal scheme, the breeder stock will be passed on to another beneficiary after it shall have produced an offspring for the beneficiary who took care of the animal.
Mr. Juaton was an Outstanding Young Farmer and also an Organic Livestock Learning Site Proponent of the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) Region XI.
